The primary product of Prillus is high quality patent drawings for inclusion in patent applications. These patent applications are filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the patent offices of foreign countries around the globe. We work with patent attorneys, corporations and solo inventors to clearly and visually describe their inventions. While the attorneys carefully write their descriptions, specifications and claims, we produce drawings that help a reader understand the function of the invention. As the old saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
The USPTO was formed to fulfill Article 1, Section 8, clause 8 of the US constitution, which tasks government to "promote the progress of science and the useful arts by securing for limited times to inventors the exclusive right to their respective discoveries." American industry has thrived for over two centuries under this system, where novel inventions are protected from competition for a period of time. This offer of protection from competition is exchanged for publication of the invention in the USPTO Gazette, so that others can benefit from the research and development. As a branch of the Department of Commerce, the USPTO accomplishes this by providing timely examination of patent and trademark examinations.
